Spring continues

Berberis thunbergii with new spring growth.

Spring continues and the warm weather makes it easy for the trees to adapt to the environment, after their dormancy storage in the unheated greenhouse. The Prunus avium started to flower very early, and even though we had some light night frosts the last days, this doesn’t affect the flowers at all. They will flower without hesitation until the fruits are ready to be formed. And that’s when it is critical to take precautions against freezing nights, because the fruits will drop if they are exposed to frosts.

Next spring tasks are of course repotting trees in need of this, and cutting back some flowering specimens, who forms their flowers on this years growth.
