Satsuki Azalea reconstruction
We know bonsai designs doesn’t last forever. After some time a bonsai will need small adjustments or total reconstruction. But there are times in between when a little work isn’t enough and too late demands much more work.
But how do we take care of the in-between situations? Balancing growth and securing growth at the inner areas of a tree. That balance can be difficult to handle.
In the weekly episode of BONSAI ON (released Thursday) we look into the techniques and strategy using a Satsuki Azalea.
This tree needs to be partially reconstructed before it overgrows further. We look at different ways of postponing a severe redesign and necessary steps to keep a bonsai healthy and in shape. Also changing the design adding more movement and space between branches.

Hi Morten, A wire gauging use trick I use is to use the straight end of the wire a simply push the branch downward. If the wire bends, it is too weak. If the branch can be bent downward by the wire it is the right gauge to use. So far this works for me. Thanks good video as always.
