    I finally managed to get plants to make a group or groups of Field Maples. They had long tap roots which I cut as short as I dared and planted them in three pots of Akadama/Pumice/Lava rock equal parts. I will plant the groups in the springIMG_8013aIMG_8019aThere are a total of 35 trees in the 40 to 80 cm range.

    Yes, they were a bit taller than I wanted but they will be ok. the trunks are varying thicknesses too.
