Hello. I just wanted to show you my little juniper Itoigawa.
This picture is from May 2019. After a few months in my garten. I cleaned out every dead stuff and let them grow as he wanted.
In 2020 (I will add a picture as soon as I find one) I repoted them in the same grey pot and also give them space to grow free. I only used some guywires.
And today on the 28th of February 2021 I wired the whole tree for (my very first time) the first time completely.
I started 3 days ago with the first 3 branches on the right and back side. Then the sun was away and also my back startet to hurt a bit. 😂 Yesterday I was thinking and thinking of cutting of one branch or not. A night later I decided to keep them alive and just shortened it a bit.
I cleaned the trunk wire the rest of the tree today. I also changed the front and the ancle a bit. I know it is just one juniper like everyone else. But for the first time it is a feeling like a real Bonsai. I love the perfect styled japanese exebition ones with the white deadwood. So here is mine now:
I know the wire is not perfect. I used a bit to much. Next time I will buy a bigger range of wires. My plan now: Let them grow this year again almost free. The first foliage pads on the left and the right needs to be a bit larger and also the top needs a bit more strength. But for today I am realy happy with my juniper. Next year I will try to repot it without damaging to much roots but get it back in his pot or maybe I find a better one until this day. Is it okay to let them stay in this position? The pot will dry out on the one side faster than on the other?
I like your work, well done. I would not leave it like that, but I don’t think it will do any harm. I would use a round pot, but maybe a bit shallower and unglazed. Otherwise I like it.
