Wabi sabi or not?

It´s Almost Friday at Kisetsu-en. This week we publish a new podcast with the subject discussing: Do all bonsai have to be old and do they have to look old?

The tradition is bonsai are old trees or at least shows age.

This tradition and cultural approach we have adapted from the Japanese tradition of Japan. We also see it in the western culture where we appreciate antique furniture and old buildings and their history. Age is worshipped in many aspects, and less in others.

With bonsai, we teach the art with old trees or add the features through the use of deadwood and styling. In this episode of the Kisetsu-en Seasonal Bonsai Podcast Morten Albek looks at the way we may adapt younger trees to a different expression of age.
